TN Massage Licensure Board meeting
The TN Massage Board meeting is today in Nashville. 8am~5pm. I will post notes here.
Dianne Birkner’s retirement as Manager of the Massage Licensure Board was announced.
Julie Aurora Wray of Red Boiling Springs, TN, replaces Chris Sluss as a Professional Member of the Board.

Investigations reports 21 open Massage cases and 12 open Massage Establishment cases.
The Office of General Counsel reports 151 open cases, mostly for continuing education violations.
There is a new law requiring all Health Related Boards to fast track applications by military personnel, and other benefits for military personnel & spouses.
The Board ratified 103 Agreed Citations for Continuing Education Violations totalling $47, 375.
The Board amended the Lapsed License Policy to raise the penalty after 12 months to $250 per month plus probation plus costs. The penalty for the first 3 months remains $0, and the penalty for months 4-12 remains $100 per month.
Seven applicant interviews. Seven licenses approved.
Both Continuing Education waiver requests were approved.
Live webinars, when interaction with the instructor is available, can count as part of the 17 live class hours.
Authorized the Office of General Counsel to increase penalties for licensees who do not sign Agreed Citations up to double plus probation.
AMTA has requested clarification on scope of practice, specifically “joint mobilization” & “pin and stretch.” Discussion and action were deferred till the next meeting on August 5th.
