Tai Chi

Tai Chi for Health
I’ve practiced tai chi since 1982, studying with Larry Brown, Hei Wei Qi, Xu Jun Heng, and attended workshops with William C. C. Chen, Yang Jwing Ming, and others.  In 2009 I attended the week-long instructor intensive offered by Australian Dr. Paul Lam and became certified to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis.

Tai Chi for Arthritis was developed by Dr. Lam with medical experts and tai chi masters. It has been endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation and arthritis organizations in New Zealand, Australia, and other countries. Scientific studies have demonstrated that Dr. Lam’s Tai Chi for Arthritis program significantly reduces pain and discomfort in arthritis patients, improves mobility, and can reduce falls by 70%. The Tai Chi for Arthritis “form” is easy to learn and takes only a few minutes to perform.

While Tai Chi for Arthritis was developed especially for arthritis, it is beneficial for anyone.

After teaching a full-day format, I’ve broken down Tai Chi 1 into half-day classes. TCA 1a covers the first half of the basic form. TCA 1b covers the second half of the basic form. TCA 2a & 2b will cover the advanced section of the form. Each class builds on the previous class and must be taken in sequence.

Check Class Schedule page for a list of Tai Chi for Arthritis classes.
