Cupping Basics (8 CE hours for LMTs)
If you are curious about cupping, this is a brief introduction including indications and contraindications. You will get resources for further study should you decide that you want to incorporate cupping into your practice.  Wear lab clothes for working shoulders, back, hips, knees, etc. (e.g., shorts, sports bra, 2-piece bathing suit). Bring a set of sheets, 2-4 hand towels, and a bolster &/or pillow. Silicone cups will be provided for class use and available for purchase after class.

K-Power® Five Elements and Muscle Testing Basics for Manual Therapists  (15 CE hours for LMTs)
Learn to balance the meridians with this practical introduction muscle testing and to the Chinese Five Elements.  This workshop teaches techniques for bodyworkers who are licensed to do massage.

Muscle Energy Technique  (8 CE hours for LMTs)
Muscle Energy Technique allows the therapist to relax and lengthen muscles even on weak clients. You will learn the principles behind this osteopathic technique and how to apply it from head to toe. Therapists will self-assess at beginning and end of class to see changes (posture, range-of-motion, pain, etc.).  Wear light loose clothing to allow for full range of motion.

Positional Release (8 CE hours for LMTs)

Positional Release allows a muscle to settle down from a state of excess, noxious nerve firings.  You will learn the principles behind this osteopathic techniques and how to apply itfrom head to toe. Therapists will self-assess at beginning and end of class to see changes (posture, range-of-motion, pain).  Wear light loose clothing to allow for full range of motion.

Tai Chi… for Arthritis (flyer) and Beginners and Seniors.
I’ve been doing tai chi on and off since 1982. In 2009, I completed Dr. Paul Lam’s Instructors training for his Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA) program. Studies have shown that the Tai Chi for Arthritis set, based on Sun style tai chi, significantly helps arthritis.  A Korean study also shows that it helps with fall prevention, reducing risk by seventy percent (70%). Other benefits include cardio-vascular fitness, flexibility, improved posture, relaxation, concentration, & improved mood. This is an excellent introduction to tai chi for anyone. Class schedule will include a weekly and a half-day format.

Tennessee Massage Law (2 TN CE hours) for TN LMTs.

Tennessee Massage Ethics (2 CE hours) for TN LMTs.

Practice Management: Business (2 CE hours) for LMTs.

All Tennessee Licensed Massage Therapists are required to take a 2-hour course in Tennessee Law and to take another 2-hour course on ethics, or substance abuse, or practice management during each 2-year CE cycle (2017-2018, 2019-2020, 2021-2022, etc.). I have received the required MLB approval for the TN Law class. I have also attended almost every meeting for 10+ years.

Top Ten Pain Releasers: Self-Help Techniques for Reducing Stress & Pain  (8 CE hours for LMTs)

Learn how to muscle test and incorporate these techniques into your practice and use it with family and friends.  This class is an excellent introduction to muscle testing, and optional introduction to the Touch for Health® series. This class is open to anyone.

Touch For Health® Kinesiology is a system of natural health care which combines muscle testing (monitoring) with the principles of Chinese medicine to assess energy and body function, applying a range of gentle, yet powerful healing techniques to improve health, well-being and vitality.

Touch For Health® is taught in four, 2-day workshops which introduce the art of muscle testing and the basic procedure for balancing the body’s muscles and meridians as presented by Dr. John Thie in Touch for Health. Prerequisites: None. (Must be taken in sequence.)

Touch for Health® 1, open to anyone.  (15 CE hours for LMTs)

Touch for Health® 2, open to anyone, pre-requisite is TFH 1.  (15 CE hours for LMTs)

Touch for Health® 3, open to anyone, pre-requisite is TFH 2.  (15 CE hours for LMTs)

Touch for Health® 4, open to anyone, pre-requisite is TFH 3.  (15 CE hours for LMTs)

Each TFH workshop is 15 CE hours for LMTs and must be taken in series.

Touch for Health Introduction are 2-hour or 4-hour classes.

This class series is open to anyone.

Regular (or Late) Registration fee applies if paid less than 2 weeks before class.  (If space & manual are available.)

Early registration fee applies if paid in full at least 2 weeks before class. (Space limited. Register early!)

No refunds when you cancel within 3 days of class, or if you don’t show up.
Half refund when you cancel between 3 & 7 days before class.
Full refund less $25 when you cancel between 7 & 14 days of class.
Full refund if MassageWorks cancels class.
